Why not phone camera?

Today everyone has an amazing camera on them at all times. It's indisputable - you can take some excellent photos on your phone, even mimicing that "professional" look with Portrait Mode. It's always with you and easy to use - what's not to love?

What you can do with your phone is astonishingly good, until you compare it to the genuine article.

I don't see phone cameras as "lesser than" - they're just a different tool for a different job. Phones excel at capturing the fleeting moments of joy we experience in our lives, allowing us to easily share to our loved ones. A photographer captures the essence of the ones we love, allowing us to cherish them forever.
